SIBU: A 19-year-old boy sustained minor injuries to his fingers while extinguishing a fire involving a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder hose at his house in Lorong 3, Taman Amber today (Jan 7).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Sibu Jaya station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 12.38 pm.

Upon arrival, they found that the fire involved the cooking stove and it had already been extinguished by the complainant’s son using wet cloth and pipe water.

According to the boy, the fire occurred at the gas hose behind the gas stove in the kitchen.

While putting out the fire, he sustained light injuries to his left fingers.

The team advised him to go to the hospital for further treatment.

No operation was necessary as the team only monitored the situation and ensured that there is no risk of reignition.

The operation ended at 1.02 pm.
