KUCHING: Sarawak Ministry of Transport (MOTS) is studying the proposed opening of bus services for the Singkawang-Kuching route via the Biawak-Aruk Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS).

The proposal was among matters discussed when its minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin received a courtesy call from the Malaysian-Pontianak Consulate Azizul Zekri Abdul Rahim at his office on Tuesday (Oct 18).

According to a press statement, the proposal to open the route was submitted by the Indonesian Consul General in Kuching in a previous meeting with MOTS.

MOTS is studying the matter and will hold further discussions with the bus companies in Sarawak.

In the same meeting, he also proposed the reopening of flights from Kuching to Pontianak for the development of diverse tourism with Indonesia.
