KUCHING: The Sarawak government through the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government will continue to assist the first time home buyers in owning their first ever property.

Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil said the state had introduced a number of assistance for those who want to own a house but could not afford it.

“The reality of it is that this happens everywhere because I think now you know that cost of living has gone up. Cost of materials also has gone up,” he said.

However, at the same time, he stated that the Ministry had introduced assistance such as deficit housing scheme and also offered subsidies and affordable housing to those lower income groups, especially B40 and below.

“So these are some of the measures as to how the Sarawak government has assisted to mitigate or help the house buyers, especially the lower income groups,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters after officiating at The Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (SHEDA) Kuching Branch (SKB) Home and Property Roadshow 2025 at Aeroville Mall here on Friday.

The collaboration between SHEDA and the Ministry can be seen through the roadshow, which is being held from Jan 10 to 12.

“And of course I believe that whatever business we do, we have to face these risks of increased material prices and so on,” he added.
