Minister conveys condolences over passing of Nyukan Yan

KUCHING: Sarawak lost another of its cultural jewels with the passing of Nyukan Yan, also known as Muk Torres, said Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Expressing his sorrow over the loss, Abdul Karim described the late Muk Torres as one of the renowned Ring Ladies who brought great recognition to Sarawak.

“I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Muk Torres, another one of our Ring Ladies. She was a true jewel of Sarawak who brought fame to the state.

“My deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to her family. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” he said when contacted by Sarawak Tribune yesterday (Dec 18).

Muk Torres passed away at the age of 82 due to old age on Tuesday (Dec 17) around 5 am at her child’s residence in Kampung Semban.
