KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Football League (MFL) has created a Media Monthly Award (MMA) for the first time to recognise the role of the local media in the development of national football.

MFL chief executive officer, Kevin Ramalingam regarded MMA as the best platform to appreciate the effort of the media in providing coverage for the Malaysian League.

‘’The media plays an important role in the progress of football. They are the connecting medium to the supporters and an important element in local football.

‘’I hope the MMA. to some extent, can boost the morale of the media practitioners to turn out more positive reports involving national football,’’ he told the media after handing over awards to the media today. - Bernama

MMA would have four categories, namely, Best Print Media, Best Online Report, Best Electronic Media, and Best Photo - each category would receive a trophy and cash RM500.

Goal.com journalist, Kin Fai received the Best Online Report award and News Straits Times journalist (NST), Zulfaizan Mansor won the Best Print Media award, for February.

TV3 journalist and videographer, Fariz Zolkarnain and Mohd Jufri Mohd Judin won the Best Electronic Media report while Best Photo was won by NST (Perak Bureau) photographer, Effendy Abdul Rashid. – Bernama
