KUCHING: Calling all Malaysian change-makers! The Merdeka Award Trust is offering a fully-funded, three-month programme for Malaysians aged 22 to 35 to gain exposure and expertise from leading global institutions.

The Merdeka Award Grant for International Attachment provides recipients with the unique opportunity to network with mentors at prestigious universities and research centres like MIT, Harvard Business School, Cambridge, and Kyoto University.

Applications open from Jan 1 until May 1.

“We have supported the ambitions of those from diverse fields,” said Kerina Fauzi, Merdeka Award Trust secretary, in a statement.

“Grantees have immersed themselves in top laboratories and collaborated with leading figures to create greater impact.”

The selection process is competitive and includes multiple stages, such as interviews and video submissions.

Applicants are encouraged to carefully prepare their applications, including a research project or study plan aligned with Merdeka Award’s mission of fostering excellence in fields that contribute to Malaysia’s growth.

While not a financial award, the Grant covers accommodation and travel during the three-month attachment.

This allows grantees to fully immerse themselves in their chosen field and develop transformative knowledge to benefit Malaysia’s future.

This year marks the 10th cycle of the Grant, and nationwide promotional roadshows are planned.
