ROBAN: The completion of a concrete drainage project under Sarawak’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) has become a meaningful Christmas gift for the residents of Rumah Panjang Sait, Jelupang Baroh, near here.
“I would like to thank the Sarawak government, especially the Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri, for fulfilling the residents’ dreams.
“What makes it even sweeter is that it was completed just in time for Christmas, making this year’s celebration extra special,” he said, adding that the residents were satisfied with the project’s outcome.
Meanwhile, Mohamad highlighted that the drainage system was a long-awaited infrastructure improvement for the residents.
“Thankfully, it was approved and implemented this year.
“Looking back, the project began after receiving an application from Tuai Rumah Sait.
“On July 4, I delegated Councillor Kasdi Pandi, deputy chief of the Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kalaka branch to meet with the longhouse residents to identify their most pressing needs and areas requiring upgrades this year.
“Following that meeting, on July 11, 2024, Councillor Kasdi again visited the site with the implementing agency, the Betong Division Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), to hand over the project site.
“Finally, on December 24, a day before Christmas, the residents’ dream of better infrastructure was realised with the full completion of the concrete drainage project,” he said.
Mohamad appreciated the DID for its commitment to ensuring the project ran smoothly.
“Thanks also to Tuai Rumah Sait for his full cooperation and patience while waiting for the RTP project to be implemented,” he added.
