MATU: A family of 13 were left with nothing but the clothes on their backs after their wooden house in Kampung Treng Sekaan Besar Matu, was engulfed by flames on yesterday (July 4).

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the victims who managed to get out to safety in the 4.50 pm blaze.

The flames also caused five per cent damages to two nearby houses.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) said firemen from Daro station were promptly despatched to the scene after being alerted of the incident.

On arrival, the house was beyond saving and the extinguishing deed was performed.

After ensuring that the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded the operation and headed back to their station.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
