KUCHING: Malaysia can rise above the ashes if racism, religious bigotry, and unfairness are thrown aside and the nation starts putting a square peg into a square hole, said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing.
“Let the Malaysian people decide who they want to be their prime minister in time of war. The sooner the better,” he said in a statement today (Aug 17).
He pointed out that the nation is at war with Covid-19 which had caused much misery among the people. On top of this, he said the ‘army’ (the administration) was in disarray without its ‘commander-in-chief’ (the prime minister).
He said that instead of putting feet firmly on the ground and fighting the deadly virus together, Malaysian MPs were shooting at each other and worse still — had thrown out its ‘commander-in-chief’ in the midst of battle and could not even find a new commander to replace him.
“Until and unless our MPs put their act together and put national interests above their own, Malaysia will not only become a failed state but a destroyed state lying in the shambles of political mess,” he said.
Noting the shambles in Kabul as the United States of America (USA) retreated in defeat with the advancement of the Taliban army, he said he could not believe his eyes that the most powerful nation in the world had retreated with its tail between its legs.
“Malaysia could be in the same position — but not in retreat as USA in Kabul as Malaysians have nowhere to go but Malaysia — as our people are and will be decimated by Covid-19,” said Masing.
