KUCHING: The Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC, widely known as Masdar, is assessing opportunities in the development of renewable energy projects, particularly floating solar in Sarawak.

Masdar chief executive officer (CEO), Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi said the company is looking forward to working closely with its local partner Sarawak Energy under the guidance and support of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and the Sarawak government.

“We aim to develop gigawatts of (energy) capacity in Malaysia and across other Asian countries,” he said after paying a courtesy visit to Abang Johari at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today (May 28).

He added that Masdar, as one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world, is dedicated to working with the government and their local partner to invest in and develop large-scale renewable energy projects.

For the record, Masdar inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) during the 28th Conference of Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC) in Dubai last year.
