MARUDI: Marudi town is hit by floods following heavy rains since Thursday.

Marudi ferry service is still operating as usual despite the flood.

Miri Civil Defence Force officer in-charge Lt (PA) Mirwan Shah Masri said they have received information that the town and several surrounding villages were flooded, but there were no need for evacuation.

“We have mobilised our men to the scene for monitoring and providing assistance to the affected residents,” he said.

However Marudi ferry service was still operating as usual today (Nov 18) as of 11am despite the Baram river bursting its banks.

Areas affected by floods were Kampung Narum ; Kampung Ridan/Jalan Feri Marudi; Pekan Marudi and Kampung Padang Kerbau.

Meanwhile, two primary schools set to be used as polling venues – Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Benawa and SK Kuala Tutoh were reported to be flooded.
