KAPIT: The body of a man was found floating in Baleh River at Nanga Kemali, Kapit on Saturday.

The body was found by villagers at around 7am.

Kapit district police chief DSP Freddy Bian said the victim, believed to be a local, was wearing only a pair of long pants.

He said a search conducted on the body did not find any identification documents.

“A body search revealed it was a local man based on the ‘Bacillus Calmette – Guérin’ (BCG) injection mark on his right arm,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He added there were also Iban motifs tattooed on the left and right shoulders and inscriptions on the left arm.

So far, the police here have not received any reports of missing persons in the area.

“Anyone who has lost a family member may contact Kapit IPD Police Station at 084-799622. The remains are now being held at Kapit Hospital,” said Freddy.

He said police were still investigating the incident.
