Manhunt underway for two detainees who escape Kuching Court custody

KUCHING: Police are on the hunt for two male detainees who escaped from legal custody at Kuching Court Complex two weeks ago.

The fugitives have been identified as 27-year-old Mohd Hissyalezwan Abd Zamri from Serian, and 25-year-old Muhammad Nasrie Razali from Kota Samarahan.

Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said that the escape occurred at around 11.30 am on Mar 7.

“Both men are still on trial for offenses under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code, which pertains to gang robbery without a firearm.

“Any individual who harbours the suspects, can be charged under Section 225(b) of the Penal Code, which provides for up to three years imprisonment and a fine,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Farhan said the case is also being investigated under Section 223/224 of the Penal Code for escaping from authorities’ arrest, which carries imprisonment for a term of up to two years, a fine, or both.

Anyone with information regarding the fugitives’ whereabouts, are urged to report them to the nearest police station or Kuching police operations centre at 082-244444.
