KUCHING: The police are hunting for the main suspect in a recent robbery at Taman Juta Ria, Jalan Matang, here.
Padawan deputy police chief DSP Lim Jaw Shyong said the man, known as Amir, was among four suspects who took part in the robbery.
He revealed that the other three suspects were apprehended by the police within 24 hours of the incident.
“The identification parade conducted on the three suspects confirmed their involvement in the robbery.
“The trio admitted to being involved with another suspect known as Amir.
“Amir was one of the three suspects who broke into the complainant’s residence while another suspect was keeping watch outside,” said Lim in a statement today (Apr 7).
He said all the suspects who had been arrested were remanded for seven days from April 4 to 11.
“If convicted, they will be sentenced up to 20 years in prison and may also be lashed,” he explained.
Lim added Amir was believed to be the main suspect of the robbery from interrogations conducted on the trio.
‘We call on anyone who has information on the suspect to contact the case’s investigating officer, Insp Stiffan at 014-6750181,” he added.
