KUCHING: A man pleaded not guilty before judge Afidah Abdul Rahman at the Sessions Court here on Tuesday (July 5) for assault.

Ajun Harmono, 35, was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 326A of the same Code, for intentionally injuring his 47-year-old brother.

He committed the act at a house in Kampung Pejiru, Bau, Jalan Serikin-Bau, at around 11.30am on June 6.

During the mention of the case, DPP Mohamad Aiman ​​Mutallib Mohamad Shariff did not offer any bail to the accused to prevent him from repeating the same offence against the victim or other family members, and to prevent the accused from fleeing.

This was due to the accused also being charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code at the Bau court.

However, the court allowed the accused to be released on a bail of RM3,000 with one local surety and set the re-mention date for case management on Aug 8.

It is understood that during the incident, the accused who was under the influence of alcohol and had gone on a rampage and injured his brother.
