Man nabbed on suspicion of smuggling diesel

MIRI: Marine Police Region 5 arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of smuggling diesel with his modified van on Tuesday morning (Feb 7)

According to Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the suspect was apprehended around 6.45 am by the road side of Jalan Datuk Edward Jeli opposite Ng Siap Hap Trading supermarket.

There was a modified tank at the rear seat of the van containing 1,500 litres of subsidised diesel.

Upon further inspection carried out, the suspect had failed to produce any documents or permits from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).

All seized items including the van are valued at RM56,025.

The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961.

All seized goods and the suspect have been handed over to the Miri KPDN investigation officer for further action.
