MIRI: Police yesterday arrested a man for allegedly raping a minor in February this year.
Miri district police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah who confirmed the incident, said the 23-year-old man was arrested at 12.20am in his home at Jalan Lutong-Kuala Baram.
According to the report, the 15-year-old victim got to know the suspect in February.
Later in March, the victim found out that she was pregnant through a pregnancy test.
“The victim later went to a clinic for further inspection and the doctor confirmed her situation.
“The suspect was told of the victim’s pregnancy, but he did not want to take any responsibility for the four-month-old foetus,” he said in a statement.
Lim added that the victim then lodged a police report on the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
