The car which was badly damaged in the accident.

KUCHING: A 43-year-old man was killed on the spot after crashing his car into a tree at Bintulu-Tanjung Kidurong  Road at about 9.45pm on Sunday.

Abu Bakar bin Yahya, a private firm worker from Kampung Assyakirin, Jalan Kemboja, was driving alone when his car went out of control and swerved to the left side of the road before hitting the tree.

The victim was stuck in the driver’s seat and passers-by who saw the accident alerted the police and Fire and Rescue Department.

Medics, called to the scene, confirmed Abu Bakar’s death.

Firemen helped to retrieve the victim’s remains from the badly damaged car.

The remains were brought to Bintulu Hospital for a post mortem.

Sarawak Head of Traffic Investigation and Operation Supt Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the case and said police were investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1987.
