BINTULU: A local man died on the spot after being thrown from his pickup truck, which skidded and overturned at Selungun roundabout in Samalaju late last night (Nov 26).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the victim is identified as Branden Kirong.
Firefighters from Samalaju station were dispatched to the scene, about 10km away, after receiving a distress call at 11.04 pm.
Upon arrival, they found the Toyota Hilux, carrying two men, overturned on its roof, about 70 metres from the road.
Branden was ejected from the vehicle following the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. His body was handed over to the police for further action.
Meanwhile, the other occupant, who sustained bodily injuries, managed to exit the vehicle on his own and was later taken to the hospital for further medical treatment.
