MIRI: A local man sustained minor injuries following a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder fire at the cafeteria in Miri Hospital today (Aug 18).

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from Lopeng station were quickly deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 8.57 am.

Upon arrival, the team confirmed that the incident happened in the kitchen area and the flames were already extinguished by the cafeteria workers.

Meanwhile, the injured 22-year-old man was taken to the hospital for further medical attention.

No operation was necessary and the team only monitored the situation to ensure that it was safe before returning to their station.
