KUCHING: A 54-year-old man was injured following a car accident involving a Proton Iswara along Simpang Bukit Saban, Betong yesterday (Dec 13).
The Betong Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported receiving the emergency call at 3.33pm regarding the incident and immediately dispatched a team to the scene.
The victim sustained head injuries and a fractured right leg after being trapped inside the vehicle, which had skidded off the road.
Using rescue tools, the team successfully extricated the victim and provided initial treatment.
He was later transported to Betong Hospital by Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS).
Meanwhile, earlier today, a car fire was reported near the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) office at Jalan Tabuan here.
The fire, which engulfed a Perodua Alza, was reported at 1.57am. A team from the Padungan Fire Station was promptly dispatched to the scene.
The fire completely destroyed the car’s engine compartment and spread to the seats. Heat from the blaze also affected a nearby grey Mazda scrap vehicle. The owner of the Perodua Alza managed to escape unharmed.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze using two nozzle hoses connected to the fire truck’s hose reel. The fire was brought under control by 2.25am, and the operation concluded at 2.33am.
