SIBURAN: A local man sustained facial injuries after falling into a 40-metre-deep ravine while collecting durians at Kampung Patos, Jalan Padawan yesterday (Dec 29).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Siburan station, along with nine Simpok auxiliary firefighters, were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 6.20 pm.
Upon arrival, rescuers confirmed that the victim was in a ravine with a 50-degree slope from the road, located about 23km from the station.
The man was found in a semi-conscious state with injuries to the left side of his face and eye. He also complained of dizziness.
The team stabilised the victim, installed a cervical collar, and secured him in a basket stretcher before hoisting him out of the ravine.
Once rescued, the victim was handed over to paramedics for further treatment.
The rescue operation ended at 7.32 pm.
