KUCHING: A 39-year-old man was arrested at his house in Jalan Matang for his alleged involvement in burglary and vehicle theft.
Kuching police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah said the local suspect was apprehended by the Kuching district police team on May 25.
He was accused of a burglary and vehicle theft in the Taman Long Seng area on May 19, which reportedly resulted in losses amounting nearly RM90,000.
“Recovered items include a disassembled air rifle, two ‘kwan tao’ parangs, machete blades, axes, a mobile phone, and various burglary and vehicle theft tools,” he said in a statement.

He also said that a urine test confirmed the suspect’s use of amphetamine and methamphetamine.
“The suspect has 38 prior records related to drug abuse and violent crimes,” he added.
The case was being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code, which could lead to a jail term of up to 14 years and fines upon conviction. Additionally, the vehicle theft was investigated under Section 379A, with penalties ranging from one to seven years in prison and possible fines.
