SRI AMAN: A local man was lucky to escape with his life after his car skidded off the road and caught fire near SMK Melugu along Jalan Pan Borneo this morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Sri Aman station were dispatched to the scene, about 11km away, following an emergency call at 7.18 am.
Upon arrival, they found a Perodua Viva had crashed into a drain and was engulfed in flames. Firefighters extinguished the flames using water from their fire engine.
The 31-year-old driver managed to exit the vehicle before the fire intensified, sustaining only a minor injury to his leg.
He was given treatment at the scene by the emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) team.
The team ended the operation at 7.43 am.
