KUCHING: A fishing trip ended in tragedy for a 30-year-old man when he drowned in the Sarawak River while fishing near Kampung Paroh here, last Sunday.
According to a statement by State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the victim, Mohd Rais Salihin Salleh, from Kampung Gita Lama, was fishing with his friends when the incident occurred around 1.00pm.
It was understood that Mohd Rais fell from a boat while fishing within the vicinity of Kampung Paroh.
Two teams of firefighters from Petra Jaya and Batu Lintang fire stations were deployed to the scene after being informed of the incident at 1.05pm.
The victim’s body was found by villagers around 1.55pm, not far from where the initial incident took place.
The body was then taken to the victim’s house and handed over to his family.
