English football club Manchester City is calling on its fans to create a new jersey for the club, which will ultimately be worn on the pitch by the players. Fans are invited to use an online AI-powered tool to generate a design based on a text prompt.

Puma, the club’s sportswear partner, has launched this AI-assisted outfit design platform, offering Manchester City fans the opportunity to design one of the official future kits for the 2026/27 season.

The Puma AI Creator generates outfits from simple text prompts or instructions and various customization tools. Fans will be able to create bold patterns for an all-new overall design. The winning outfit will be worn by the team and, of course, sold in stores — a first for a jersey created in part by AI.

Fans have until Friday, December 20 to submit their designs, after which a shortlist of ten will be chosen. The club’s supporters will then be able to vote for their favourite outfit from January 2025. The winner’s prize consists of a package that includes a trip for two to Manchester with a VIP match experience at the Etihad Stadium, as well as a framed copy of the outfit signed by the team. All finalists will each receive two VIP tickets to a City home match, as well as a kit signed by the team and a host of exclusive gifts from Puma and the club.

Several of the team’s stars have already gotten in on the act, including Brazil’s Ederson, Germany’s Stefan Ortega and England’s Rico Lewis, who together designed a bespoke goalkeeper’s outfit inspired by the goal net. This outfit will soon be available for sale in limited quantities. – ETXDailyUp
