MIRI: A 50-year-old man was arrested last night (Mar 22) for allegedly threatening his elderly mother and vandalising property at their home in Krokop earlier yesterday morning.
The suspect was taken into custody following a police report lodged by his mother, who is in her 70s.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect not only issued threats against his mother but also damaged household items during the incident.
Further checks uncovered that the man has a history of more than 20 previous criminal offences, including cases related to domestic violence. He is also believed to have subjected both his parents to abuse on multiple occasions.
During the arrest, police seized a metal rod bound with a knife, which is suspected to have been used in the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 and Section 427 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and mischief involving property damage.
