MIRI: A man who allegedly went amok at a house in Tudan Desaras here has been detained by the police.

The 31-year-old man reportedly became enraged after being told to send his nephew to school. In anger he broke the windshield of his mother’s car.

Miri OCPD ACP Alexson Naga Chabu who confirmed the case, said a police team from the Miri Criminal Investigation Division (CID) arrested the suspect around 8.10pm yesterday.

“After breaking the windshield, the man then also sprayed petrol in front of the house and threatened to burn down his family’s house.

“The mother who was worried about the threat then lodged a police report,” he said today.

Alexson said the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
