Male youth drowns while catching fish in Kota Belud

KOTA BELUD: The body of a male youth who was reported to have drowned while catching fish in Sungai Kampung Umpul, Kulambai near here yesterday has been found.

The Sabah Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said in a statement yesterday that the body of Mohd Lokman,17, was recovered by villagers who joined the search and rescue operations at about 11.30am.

“The Kota Belud fire station received an emergency call at 11.12am and eight firefighters were rushed to the location for the operations,” the statement said.

It said the body of the victim has been handed over to the police for further action. – Bernama
