Malaysia Day celebration draws big crowd

MUKAH: Malaysia Day celebration 2018 held at Kampung Penakub Bazaar here Sunday morning attracted a big crowd from all walks of life.

The celebration was organised by Mukah Youth Parliament Organisation (MPYO) in collaboration with Kampung Penakub Bazaar Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), Kampung Penakub Bazaar Area Neighbourhood Watch Committee (KRT), Unit SABERKAS Kampung Penakub Bazaar and AADK Mukah.

Mukah Member of Parliament Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib was present to officiate the event. She also joined the locals in some of the activities.

According to MPYO Chairman Royston Valentine, the event aimed to inculcate the spirit of patriotism among the locals and to celebrate the ‘unity in diversity’ in Sarawak.

“This Malaysia Day celebration is also a beautiful manifestation of unity and harmony among the people of Mukah especially those residing in the area to come together under one roof to enjoy the occasion,” said Royston.

Among the activities held were telematch, fashion show, quiz, ‘I am Sarawakian’ slot and others.

Also seen were Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Haji Kenil Haji Jeraie, Mukah Resident Hajah Hamdiah Haji Bakir, KRT Penakub Bazaar Chairman Kueh Bing Chuan and Mukah AADK Exco member Jamal Haji Wasli.
