KUCHING: Malaysia Airlines issued a warning to customers about a surge in online scams, where fraudsters are impersonating the airline’s customer service representatives.
The airline said that scammers have been creating fake accounts to engage with customers in the comments section of social media platforms.
“Do not engage with these scammers, as they may ask for your personal details, payment information, or direct you to fraudulent links,” the airline said in an announcement on X (formerly Twitter) today.
Malaysia Airlines is urging the public to be extra vigilant and to interact only with its official and verified social media accounts (©malaysiaairlines) on Facebook and X which can be identified by the blue verification tick.
Customers are advised to ignore and report any suspicious messages or comments instead of engaging with them.
The airline reassured passengers that its official customer support channels remain secure and accessible.
Those in need of assistance should only reach out through verified accounts or the airline’s live chat service at https://t.co/Pd1rC6CLSw.
