LUNDU: The relevant machinery needs to be more proactive in ensuring that the public recognises the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) logo, said State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar.
He said the GPS logo which featured the Sarawak hornbill, must be explained and clarified so that it would not be confused with the logos of other political parties.
“When voting, ballot papers are colourless and some voters may be unable to identify the GPS logo.
“Therefore, it needs to be explained clearly so that the voters will not vote for the wrong party,” he said when speaking at the food basket contribution presentation ceremony at Mahligai Gading Hall here on Saturday (Oct 30).
Asfia said the votes would determine the people’s representatives for the 82 constituencies.
He also recalled his past memories with the late former Chief Minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem in the political field.
He advised voters to cast their votes wisely to choose a government which would truly help to develop the state.
He pointed out that GPS members were more experienced to be elected representatives as they had served the state for a long time.
Also present was Tanjung Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu.
