KUCHING: The 8th Majma Raya Fest, organised by the management of Sarawak Islamic Complex, Majma Mall, is officially launched, marking another milestone in this annual event.
The event has been a hallmark of Ramadan and Hari Raya celebrations here and will run from March 2 until the last day of Ramadan, operating daily from 10 am to 10 pm, with extended hours until midnight in the final week.
The launching of the Majma Raya Fest was officiated by president of the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS), Datuk Misnu Taha, at Majma Mall here on Sunday.
According to Misnu, the Majma Raya Fest at the Majma Mall has become a key hub for businesses and shoppers, especially during Ramadan.
“As you all know, Majma Mall has become a focal point for everyone in Kuching City. This event is particularly significant for those seeking business opportunities during Ramadan,” Misnu said when speaking to reporters.
However, with the limited space available, only 135 vendors were selected to participate in the fest this year, comprising 68 existing tenants at Majma Mall, 52 Arcum tent vendors, 14 food vendors and one car sales booth, featuring an array of products, including clothing, traditional biscuits and snacks, and household essentials.
The festival also ensures convenient facilities such as a Zakat Payment Counter, a comfortable prayers space for Tarawih and Eid prayers, and designated Iftar areas with the Majma Mall’s food premises and Ramadan Bazaar.
Shoppers have the chance to participate in weekly lucky draws, adding an element of excitement to their purchases.
Every morning from 10 am to 11 am, invited tahfiz students will lead the daily Quran recitations at the Centre Court of Majma Mall, fostering a spiritual ambiance.
On weekends, busker performances will entertain visitors outside the mall, while the Raya Song Competition, held in the second and third weeks of Ramadan, will showcase local talent.
Additionally, visitors can enjoy cooking demonstrations, learn new festive recipes, and experience the community spirit by distributing Bubur Lambuk, a beloved Ramadan tradition.
With festive shopping, exciting activities, and community engagement, Majma Raya Fest 2025 promises to be a memorable event for businesses and shoppers.
City residents are encouraged to visit and experience the wide selection of products and entertainment throughout Ramadan.
