KUCHING: A driver’s New Year celebrations turned costly when his luxury car became the centre of a bizarre accident, damaging seven vehicles parked in front of a bank near the 3rd Mile flyover this morning.
Based on numerous photos and videos that have since gone viral on social media, the mishap occurred at around 11 am when the driver allegedly rammed into the rear of a silver car.
The impact caused a chain reaction, with the luxury vehicle colliding into several other cars parked along the left side of the road.
One vehicle sustained rear-end damages, while four others sustained front-end damages. The force of the collision also pushed two parked cars into each other, leaving them with dented and crumpled bodies.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the chaotic scene, though the repair bills for the damaged vehicles are expected to be costly.
At the time of writing, police have yet to release a statement on the incident.
Last year, a similar chain accident happened at Pasar Batu 3 on Aug 1. The driver, an 80-year-old woman, wanted to park her BMW car but mistakenly stepped the gas pedal and collided into 10 vehicles in the parking lot.
