MIRI: Sibuti MP Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni has expressed optimism about the state’s development trajectory, citing significant progress in infrastructure and governance.

Speaking at the Miri Melanau Association’s Christmas and New Year gathering last night (Jan 4), he emphasised the importance of unity and stable leadership in advancing the state’s growth.

“Our state is highly developed now,” he said, adding that the Batang Lassa Bridge in Daro would soon open.

“This bridge will enhance connectivity in Daro, and many more bridges and major roads are on the way. Traveling to visit family and friends will be much easier—from Miri to Balingian, Telian, and Dalat. This is the progress demonstrated by our leaders under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg,” he stated.

He called for continued support for the Premier and praised the efforts of the unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“We pray for stability in the federal government and trust this administration to deliver on its promises, including upholding the rights enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).”

Lukanisman also acknowledged recent concerns over rising food prices but expressed confidence in the government’s ability to address these challenges.

“It is up to the prime minister to demonstrate his leadership and ensure economic stability for the people,” he remarked, reiterating his belief in the government’s commitment to progress.
