BINTULU: A lorry driver was killed after the vehicle he was driving collided either another lorry and burst into flames along the Bintulu-Miri road last night (Jan 16).
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, they received a distress call about the incident at around 10 pm and deployed 11 firefighters to the scene.
“Upon arrival, the team found a lorry carrying a load of stones on fire after it had crashed into the rear of another lorry laden with logs.
“According to a witness, the victim, believed to be the lorry driver, was trapped inside the lorry,” the department said in a statement today.
They added that after the fire was put out a burnt victim was found in the driver’s seat.
The remains were retrieved and handed over to the police for further action.
The victim’s identity has yet to be confirmed, while the driver of the lorry carrying logs remains unaccounted for.
