PANTU: A lorry driver narrowly escaped injury when the cabin of his cement-laden vehicle caught fire at Bukit Begunan today (Nov 11).

Firefighters from Sri Aman station were alerted to the incident at 11.53 am and rushed to the scene, approximately 37km away.

Upon arrival, they found the cabin engulfed in flames, while the cement load remained intact.

Due to the absence of nearby water sources or fire hydrants, the team had to rely solely on the water supply from their fire truck to extinguish the blaze.

The fire was brought under control at 12.36 pm, followed by overhaul operations to prevent re-ignition.
The operation concluded at 1.14 pm after the scene was deemed safe.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are currently under investigation.
