KUCHING: The Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) at the Kuching District Police Headquarters has detained a lorry believed to be responsible for the diesel spill on Jalan Kulas yesterday (Mar 26).

Reports indicate that the culprit received three summonses for various offences related to the incident.

Subsequently, both the lorry and its driver were handed over to authorities at Satok Police Station for further investigation and subsequent action by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living.

During yesterday’s examination, it was discovered that the lorry was transporting diesel stored in multiple intermediate bulk containers.

The Padungan Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) responded to the incident with the oil spill extending approximately 300 metres from Jalan Kulas to the Satok flyover.

Firefighters utilised sawdust and water to clear the road.
