KAPIT: Longhouse chief Tuai Rumah Dollen Notis who chairs the village and development committee (JKKK) of Tatai Mas Rawing at Sungai Amang, Selirik here, speaking on behalf of the longhouse and committee, pledged their full support to the incumbent elected Bukit Goram representative Jefferson Jamit Unyat in the coming state election which is to be held anytime from now.

It is vital for the people to vote for the right candidate to represent them, the longhouse chief pointed out. The next five years is a total waste if we vote for an unsuitable candidate because there is likelihood of no useful development, he said.

For that matter, our incumbent representative Jamit has proven his sincerity and capability in serving us and hence we should reciprocate by giving him the full support,” stressed Dollen.

“Although Jamit was only elected four years ago (in May, 2016), his deeds by establishing close rapport, moving around to meet the grassroots, holding dialogue sessions with constituents, listening to our plights, allocating funds, approving projects to enhance infrastructures are proofs of being a caring and able leader.

“That is why we should support him to defend the seat so that he could continue to help us thus enabling further development here,” Dollen pointed out during a dialogue session.

This was one of Jamit’s ‘meet the people’ activities in the constituency during the current recovery movement control order (RMCO).

When responding to Dollen’s remark, Jamit said the close working cooperation between himself and the people as well as with elected representatives in Kapit, including with Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi who is Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumers Affairs, has enabled them to carry out their duties and responsibilities with ease.

“We work together as a team for the people’s benefit and to ensure they have a fair share of government grants and development. In choosing your elected representatives you need to choose the ones that can work with each other,” Jamit said, adding that the people must continue to give full support to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government led by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
