SARATOK: Rumah Desmond Sungan, in Kamidan Jaya here, will be placed under lockdown following one Covid-19 positive case involving a resident of the longhouse.

Saratok MP Ali Biju said the longhouse will be locked down for the purpose of carrying out active case detection (ACD) which will be done by the Betong Division Disaster Management Committee under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).

“I would like to state that there are two longhouses that have been under lockdown in Saratok and the situation is in a controlled state,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Besides Rumah Desmond Sungan, the other affected longhouse is Rumah Sidah in Sg Brangan.

“I will always be in touch with the authorities to find out on the development from time to time,” he assured.

Ali, who is also Krian assemblyman appealed to all Saratok residents to refrain from sharing any unauthentic news and not to speculate as it will cause confusion among the public.

“I understand that the residents in these two longhouses have given their full cooperation to the authorities and have complied with all the instruction and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that have been set,” he said.

He also reminded residents in Saratok to always remember to take care of their health, practise good hygiene, wash hands often, avoid going to crowded places and practise physical distancing.

“Do comply with all the necessary SOPs as we have not won the war against Covid-19,” said Ali.
