LAWAS: A local man was detained on Saturday afternoon for possession of a firearm and 60.9 grammes of methamphetamine worth around RM6,090.00.
According to Lawas district police chief DSP Sila Kadong, the 40 year-old suspect was detained by a team of Lawas Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department around 12 noon near a junction to an unnumbered house at Kampung Berjumpa Jalan Sundar.
“The police had stopped his vehicle for an inspection and they found several tubes of methamphetamine and the 28-inch long shotgun with 10 bullets inside,” he said in a statement.
The suspect was also tested positive for methamphetamine.
“He also had previous drug-related offences,” Sila disclosed.
The case is being investigated in accordance with Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960 (Act 206) for possessing or carrying arms and ammunition without arms licence or arms permit plus Section 39B and Section 15(1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
