KUCHING: Sarawak must be compensated for the loss of wealth to Malaya, plus all payments due under the treaty and restitution of what Malaya stole.

State Reformed Party (Star) president and an activist Lina Soo said the proposed amendment to the Federal Constitution to restore Sabah and Sarawak’s right as equal partners under one nation was “too little too late”.

“What’s the point to “amend” if all other illegal legislation altering the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) are not declared null and void and expunged from the constitution?” she added in a press statement today.

She was commenting on the agreement by the Federal Cabinet to table the proposal to amend the Federal Constitution to restore Sabah and Sarawak’s status as equal partners under one nation at the upcoming parliamentary session.

She emphasised that what was more urgent was to return the state’s oil and gas usurped under the unconstitutional Petroleum Development Act.
