KUCHING: DAP is desperate to win the support of the people of Sarawak, said Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
He said such was the party’s desperation Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng was willing to make a baseless statement against Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
“If that is how a finance minister makes his financial analysis of a state, it is no wonder that the current economic situation in the country has got from bad to worst and the value of the ringgit has shrunk,” said Fadillah.
Fadillah said RAM Rating Services Bhd recognised the Sarawak GPS government’s approach in its 2019 State Budget in addressing the state’s major development needs in an effort to narrow the socio-economic gap between Sarawak and other states in the peninsula.
“RAM Rating Service Bhd head Esther Lai had said that a five per cent sales tax on petroleum products beginning 2019 will be able to increase the government’s revenue base to meet enlarged expenditure commitments while maintaining fiscal sustainability and to increase its reserve.”
