KUCHING: “The ball is round,” says Gunto FC manager, Arif Roslan, as the club gears up for their much-anticipated debut in the 2025 Liga Bandaraya.

Embracing the unpredictable nature of the game, Arif remains optimistic that his side can kick off their campaign with a win, driven by the passion and hunger shown by the squad.

“That said, ‘the ball is round’. We can’t really gauge the players’ full potential just yet, since this is our first outing in the competition.

“Real performance will only reveal itself on match day, and that starts tomorrow (April 12),” he told Sarawak Tribune today when contacted.

Gunto FC are set to face GFC in their opening fixture on Saturday at 9.45 pm, under the lights at Padang C, Petra Jaya.

Arif has also called on local supporters to come out in numbers and rally behind the team as they make their first steps in what promises to be a long, learning-filled journey.

The team will be guided by coaches, Zaim and Sufar, who are leading a 44-man squad into a season that stretches until August.

With fresh legs, raw talent and a point to prove, Gunto FC are ready to turn their debut into a statement.
