KUCHING: Repeated attempts to destabilise the government and sow division for personal and political gain must be condemned as desperate actions, says Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
The Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister stressed that such behaviour jeopardises national security and unity, undermining Malaysia’s international reputation and raising doubts about the country’s stability.
He expressed support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to complete his five-year term, allowing the unity government to implement its planned initiatives and policies.
“The actions of certain parties who repeatedly spark disputes, chaos, cause division, and act as ‘agitators’ to change the government leadership without going through the democratic election process must be condemned as desperate measures taken for their personal benefit and political interests,” he said in a Facebook post.
Tiong said Malaysia’s political landscape has stabilised, and the economy is gradually recovering, thanks to the collective efforts of the government and the people.
He cautioned that ongoing speculation about changes in leadership could derail the government’s efforts to attract investments and further weaken the country’s economy.
Reflecting on past political instability, he noted that frequent changes in leadership had led to chaos, economic stagnation, and hardship for the rakyat.
“When political instability occurs, economic development suffers, leaving families struggling with uncertainty,” he added.
The Bintulu MP urged the public to assess the government’s performance during the next general election, saying that the democratic process is the appropriate platform for leadership changes.
“If Anwar fails to deliver satisfactory results, the people have the right to express their will through the ballot box,” he said.
