KUCHING: Sarawak head coach Mohamad Denny Da’ail blamed it on poor finishing for the team’s 1-3 defeat to UKM FC in a Premier League match at the Sarawak Stadium, here, on Wednesday night.

According to Mohamad Deny, his team had numerous scoring chances but poor finishing let the team down. The Crocs’ only goal was scored by Mohamad Alif Hassan in the 83rd minute.

“If only the strikers had been sharp enough, we could have beaten UKM,” Deny lamented as he spoke to TribuneSport.

The coach said his team were too dependent on Bobby Gonzales to score the goals and when he was tightly marked by UKM it caused problem to Sarawak.

“I am disappointed with our performance because we had many scoring chances but all went to waste,” he added.

He said even new Brazilian
import Rodrigo Amorim Oliveira failed to deliver and obviously still could not blend well with the team members.

According to Deny, one of the reasons was his communication problem with the other players, adding that he advised Rodrigo to improve himself and adapt fast. With the defeat, the Crocs plunged to the bottom 11th position, but have five more matches to play — two away and three home games.

UKM FC opened score in the 13th minute through their import Milad Zanidpour Mansour and made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute through Wan Mohammad Faiz Wan Sulaiman. Mohammad Alif reduced the deficit in the 83rd minute but the visiting team through Wan Mohammad Faiz Wan Sulaiman completed a 3-1 victory in the 87th minute.
