KUALA LUMPUR: Legoland Malaysia Resort is looking to expand its visitors base and sees India and the Middle East as potential growth markets.

General Manager Kurt Stocks said this is due to the good number of tourist arrival into Malaysia from those countries.

“Arrival (from India and the Middle East) into Malaysia is very good and they are very familiar with the Klang Valley, Penang and Langkawi but they are not really venturing out into Johor.

“So, we are creating programmes tapping into a new market like India and the Middle East because those are the potential growth market,” he told reporters in a briefing here yesterday.

He added that currently, the theme park has a very good number of visitors from Malaysia, Singapore, China, Indonesia, Australia, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines and Korea.

Meanwhile, to freshen up the theme park attractions, Legoland Malaysia would be opening the Sea Life, an interactive aquarium featuring 13,000 marine life from 120 species, said Stocks.

The introduction of the Sea Life he said, is expected to steer the company into growth path after a flattish performance last year.

However, he declined to reveal the figure for last year.

Stocks said, Legoland Malaysia would also be offering, for a limited time, a free upgrade to yearly pass for every purchase of daily pass to Malaysia citizens.

He added that the upgrade would also come with free yearly admission to the attractions in Sea Life. –Bernama
