MIRI: Minister for Transport Sarawak Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin today paid a visit to Surau Darul Tassim at Kampung Katong Lopeng. This was after receiving reports about severe cracks on the retaining wall of the worship house.

It was found that the retaining wall was also facing erosion problem as it was located next to a deep valley.

Lee who is also Senadin assemblyman has requested that the Public Works Department (JKR) to work out the major repairs and remedial measures to be taken soonest and also to provide information on the budget required.

“I wanted JKR to expedite working out the design and budget to seek for fund to fix the problems of the Surau,” he told the media.

Surau Darul Tassim was built in 2002 and completed in 2003 during the early years of Senadin constituency establishment. As such the concrete building is now aged 20 years old.

Joining Lee in this site inspection were Ketua Kampung Dayang Noor Alfiza of Kampung Katong Lopeng and also committee members of the Surau’s management committee.
