KUCHING: Multiple large LED screens will be scattered across the Kuching Waterfront to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for visitors attending the Countdown 2025, said Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
The Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts said that the LED screens have been strategically placed from the Amphitheatre to the main stage vicinity to prevent overcrowding near the main performance area.
“This will help distribute the crowd and avoid bottlenecks. Additional LED screens will also be set up behind the main stage, allowing people to enjoy the performances without being cramped in one area.
“We’ve made arrangements for this because many people may just want to hang around and wait for the fireworks, rather than watch the performances,” he said during the “Countdown 2025: Let’s Celebrate Together” press conference at Baitul Makmur II Building, Petra Jaya, today (Dec 17).
With expected congestion around Kuching Waterfront, the Minister strongly advised visitors from Kota Samarahan, Kuching, Bau, and Lundu to carpool if possible.
“Parking areas will fill up quickly, and carpooling will reduce traffic and ensure enough parking spots for everyone,” he said.
The Minister also reminded visitors to maintain the city’s cleanliness and prioritise their safety.
“Visitors to Sarawak are often impressed by our city’s cleanliness and well-kept surroundings. It’s vital that we continue this tradition by not littering.
“Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) and Kuching South City Council (MBKS) do a fantastic job, but the community’s involvement is crucial in keeping our city clean, whether during the festival or while enjoying the river.
“We all want to have fun, but it’s essential to remain vigilant, especially with the potential for pickpockets. Avoid wearing heavy gold jewellery in crowded areas,” he said.
For the record, to ensure quality and safety, he confirmed that DBKU will oversee food stalls at the event, ensuring only licensed vendors are permitted to operate.
