Chairman of Tahirih’s organising committee, Jasmin Smit said participation is open to secondary and primary schools’ students, students of higher education institutions and Mukah residents.

He said participants can choose to learn dance only, music only or learn both.

“During the period of this apprenticeship, the participants will be taught 14 types of Melanau dances and various types of Melanau music in stages throughout the duration of this programme,” he explained.

Jasmin stated that the participation is free and a certificate of participation will be given to participants who complete the programme.
